Daytime temperatures range from 8°C–15°C and can drop to 0°C or below at night. Dress in layers: thermal base + fleece + waterproof windbreaker. Always bring a hat and gloves, even if the morning looks sunny. Páramo weather changes fast.
Do I need to acclimatise before physical activities?
Yes. The property sits above 3,000 m.a.s.l. Mild headaches or extra tiredness in the first few hours are normal. Stay hydrated, avoid alcohol on your first day, and rest before demanding excursions. If symptoms are severe, contact your host.
Are there shops or supermarkets nearby?

What's the best time of year to visit?
The dry season (June–September) offers the clearest days — perfect for volcano views and excursions. The rainy season (October–May) brings afternoon showers but greener landscapes. In either season, pack warm and waterproof clothing.
Can I do the Illiniza trek without a guide?
Illiniza Norte is accessible without a guide for experienced hikers, but never alone. Illiniza Sur requires a certified guide and technical gear (crampons, ice axe). Ask your host for local guide recommendations.
Does the cabin have heating?
The cabin has an interior fireplace in the living room. Light it early to warm the space before bedtime. Extra blankets are available. If you have trouble lighting the fireplace, contact your host.
Is there mobile phone signal?
Mobile signal can be limited in the páramo depending on your carrier. The cabin has WiFi (network: San Francisco del Porvenir / password: Fr@ncisco25). Emergency 911 works with minimal signal. Download offline maps before you arrive.
Is it suitable for children and elderly guests?
Absolutely. The cabin is perfect for families. The páramo surroundings, the farm animals, and the wood-fired oven are experiences children love. For elderly guests or reduced mobility, the main facilities are accessible. Contact your host for special requirements.
